Carbon tetrafluoride (CF₄), also known as tetrafluoromethane, is a colorless, odorless, inert gas. With a global warming potential of 6630 (compared to carbon dioxide), it is a potent greenhouse gas. Carbon tetrafluoride can be decomposed at high temperatures to release fluorine atoms, which can then be used to purify titanium from the product, improving product quality.
