Use of 1-Hexene
High purity 1-hexene can be used in the manufacture of fragrances, dyes and resins, as well as polymer modification. As a comonomer for the production of high value-added polyethylene, High purity 1-hexene is widely used in polymer materials, fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals.
High purity 1-hexene is an important α-olefin product, mainly used as a comonomer for the production of high value-added polyethylene. The polyethylene produced by it has the advantages of high tensile strength, impact resistance, tear resistance, puncture resistance and high light transmittance, and is particularly suitable for the production of packaging films, agricultural films and large-diameter pipes.


1-Hexene is commonly manufactured by two general routes: full-range processes via the oligomerization of ethylene and on-purpose technology. A minor route to 1-hexene, used commercially on smaller scales, is the dehydration of hexanol. 1-hexene was also manufactured by the thermal cracking of waxes. Linear internal hexenes were manufactured by chlorination/dehydrochlorination of linear paraffins.
"Ethylene oligomerization" combines ethylene molecules to produce linear alpha-olefins of various chain lengths with an even number of carbon atoms. This approach result in a distribution or “full range” of alpha-olefins.

Those substances designated with a (P) may polymerize explosively when heated or involved in a fire. Runoff to sewer may create fire or explosion hazard. Containers may explode when heated. Many liquids will float on water. Substance may be transported hot.
