Propylene is a pure carbon gas. Pure carbon gases are the most efficient and commonly used carbon source in chemical vapor deposition (CVD) because they are usually gaseous, making them easy to precisely control and decompose.

Methane: One of the most ideal carbon sources. Methane has a simple molecular structure; when decomposed on a catalyst surface, it produces one carbon atom and hydrogen gas, with few byproducts and high-quality carbon nanotubes.
