This is the largest demand segment for nonadecane at present. It has a melting point of about 32℃ and a melting enthalpy of 10.2 kcal/mol. As an organic phase-change material, it can be used for thermal insulation and heat storage of building walls, constant temperature regulation of floor heating systems, and thermal management of wearable devices. It can also be applied in scenarios such as pharmaceutical cold chain logistics and temperature control of electronic components to achieve stable temperature regulation.
2. Analysis and Scientific Research Fields
It serves as a standard reference material for gas chromatography analysis, used for the qualitative and quantitative calibration of long-chain alkane components. Meanwhile, it is a model compound for studying the phase-change behavior and thermodynamic properties of long-chain alkanes, providing data support for basic research related to thermochemistry and phase equilibrium.
3. Other Industrial Applications
It can be used as a fuel additive to optimize the combustion performance of oil products, and can also be used to prepare biological pheromones and fine chemical intermediates. In recent years, some studies have used it as a phase-change functional component to prepare intelligent photothermal-responsive superhydrophobic coatings, which are applied in efficient anti-icing and de-icing scenarios for transmission lines and aircraft wings.
