Tetradecene is an α-olefin organic compound with the chemical formula C₁₄H₂₈. Under standard conditions (25°C, 100 kPa), 1-tetradecene has a density of approximately 0.775 g/mL, a melting point of -13 to -11°C, and a boiling point of 251°C.
Tetradecene can be used as a key monomer in the synthesis of high-molecular-weight polyolefin materials and as an intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis reactions. Its applications include polymer materials, pharmaceutical synthesis, fine chemicals, and base oil production. Tetradecene can be reduced to n-tetradecane in ethanol using light and a catalyst.
Tetradecene should be stored in a cool, dry, and light-proof warehouse. Currently, it is primarily exported in IBC tanks.One IBC tank can hold 750 kg.
