n-Butane is a colorless, odorless, and flammable gas at room temperature and pressure. Its boiling point is -0.5 °C. This means that at standard atmospheric pressure, it can liquefy at temperatures slightly below 0°C. Therefore, it is often stored and transported as a compressed liquid (it is one of the main components of liquefied petroleum gas). Density: The gas is denser than air (approximately twice as dense), and the liquid is less dense than water. Solubility: It is sparingly soluble in water but readily soluble in organic solvents.
N-butane can be used as a foaming agent, refrigerant, aerosol, and lighter gas. Its chemical formula is C4H10, and it is mainly separated from oilfield gas, natural gas, and petroleum cracking gas.
